Sustainability at CUBE

Print has a footprint. Ours is measured, and we publish the numbers.

CUBE has been printing in Limerick since 1996. Over that time our customers, particularly in pharma and medical device, have moved from asking whether we can hit a specification to asking how we source, what we waste, and what we can account for. That is a fair question and it deserves a real answer rather than a statement of intent.

We are FSC® certified through to 2031, received on our thirtieth anniversary, so printed work is traceable back to responsibly sourced material. We have gathered our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in full and are working through the Scope 3 categories. Energy, water and waste data is collected and reported annually, with 2024 and 2025 complete.

Some of it is unglamorous and adds up anyway. An electric forklift and a switch to LED lighting account for an estimated seven tonnes of CO2e a year between them. Our reusable packaging programme replaces single-use cardboard and plastic with durable containers customers keep using. Aluminium plates from our offset presses are reused and recycled rather than binned. Solar is planned to carry 30 to 40 per cent of the site.

The full plan is below, published on the ENSO platform and updated as we go. It runs across governance, our supply chain, the environment and our people, including our long-standing support for Cliona’s Foundation. There is more on our sourcing and our charity work on the Corporate Social Responsibility page.
